The most common meaning for the word Malta is derived from the Greek word meli, meaning "honey," due to a unique subspecies of bees on the island.
Along with bees we will find that there are a few snakes on the island as well. Add that to a group of very superstitious people who believe in many different gods, and you have another adventure for Paul and his companions as they continue the trip to Rome.
All through Acts there has never been a dull moment, and this week Paul continues to minister to others as a shipwrecked prisoner. The centurion, the chief official and many others were affected by the gospel during this three-month stay.
