PGCC Children's Ministry | Salty Kids
COVID-19 UPDATE: Currently Salty Kids are not meeting Sundays due to Covid-19 restrictions.
To provide a safe and nurturing environment where children are encouraged in their initial steps toward knowing and loving Jesus Christ.
WHAT WE DO
Salty Kids is a fun place for children to experience the gospel! We provide a safe and energetic atmosphere each Sunday morning where children learn about God’s character and how to grow in their relationship with Jesus.
OUR CURRICULUM STRATEGY
As a church Port Gardner strives to incorporate the Gospel and Jesus into every part of our service. In Salty Kids, we use the Gospel Project Chronological Curriculum which presents the connection each Bible story has to Jesus Christ, from Creation to David and Goliath to the early church. In class we provide the opportunity for the older kids to help and work with the younger ones in a combined format in addition to the classroom time for pre-school and elementary.
As teachers and parents, we work together in order to give children their first impression of their Heavenly Father and help them begin a lasting, lifelong relationship with Jesus.
BABIES & TODDLERS | Newborn – 30 Months
A child is never too young to hear God’s word! These children experience the gospel message from their teachers through simple songs, games, and other dynamic activities using familiar toddler toys.
PRESCHOOL – ELEMENTARY | 2-1/2 – 10 years old
These kids are in such an exciting time of discovery! Every week kids learn how the Gospel is God's Plan for Us through Bible stories, prayer and share time, and a unit song and memory verse. Children also experience fun activities which engage all the senses and address various learning styles.
We provide a multi-age environment with songs and Bible verse memorization followed by classroom time when the children break out into a preschool class — 2-1/2 to 4 years old — and a kindergarten/elementary class — 5 to10 years old.
For children over 10 years of age, we provide Bibles, note pages, and other activities that can be used to engage your child in our main worship service.
Our teachers are active Port Gardner Community Church attendees and members. We are so excited to be a part of introducing God and His love to children! We partner with parents to provide a solid, biblical foundation for the children. All of our Children’s Ministry teachers meet state volunteer requirements.
WHEN WE MEET
Port Gardner Community Church meets at 10 AM every Sunday morning. Children are invited to join their parents in the main service for music and worship. After this portion of the service, children attend their Sunday School class. Parents are required to sign children in at the Children’s Ministry table and sign them out at their classroom directly following the service.
FAMILY: THE GREATEST INFLUENCE
We believe that a child’s parents are his greatest influence in life, so we work together with parents and families to encourage and equip one another that we may foster children's most important relationship—their relationship with Jesus! At home, parents can reinforce truths learned in Sunday School using the Activity Page and Big Picture Cards the children bring home every week.
