Acts | Obstacles, Opposition and Opportunities

July 10, 2022 Speaker: Series: The Book of Acts

Topic: The Book of Acts Passage: Acts 14:1–28

Unwavered by their previous expulsion from the synagogue and region, Paul and Barnabas continue the work of teaching the truth about Jesus as the Messiah and salvation for all who believe. We find ourselves with them in Iconium, Lystra and Derbe, speaking boldly for the Lord — which, again, stirred the hearts of those who heard and saw into both receiving and rejecting their message.

In a Roman world of many gods, Paul and Barnabas will set the record straight in the people's confusion and assumptions of whose servants they were. This week we will see that consistent reliance on the Good News describes what it is to be a faithful servant even in a confused world that finds Christ offensive, and it is only by the power of the Holy Spirit that this work will be completed. From Antioch Syria, to Cyprus, Antioch Pisidia, then Iconium, Lystra, Derbe and back to Antioch Syria was a mission trip that lasted about nine months and set the bar for many as we continue the great commission to spread the Gospel to all parts of the earth. — Pastor Don
