This week we continue looking at the history of the early church. We have seen that, through prayer, the power of the Holy Spirit can fill us with a boldness and courage to press on through fear and do what we know is right. As we watch for opportunities in our families, community and neighborhood to talk about Jesus, we also realize that rejection, social discomfort or embarrassment are not necessarily persecution. One key is to start where you are, being bolder in small ways.
We will also see the start of internal and external problems facing the church. Inside, there was dishonesty, and administrative headaches. Outside, there was pressure and persecutions. Through it all the leaders keep their focus on what was most important- spreading the gospel of Jesus Christ.
Hold fast to the truth: The stone the builders rejected has become the cornerstone. This cornerstone determines the position of the entire structure. Christ's church is built on Christ, the cornerstone. Our very lives and relationship with Jesus begin with this 'living stone.' — Pastor Don
