Love and Truth
November 12, 2023 Speaker: John Schwartz Series: Stand Alone Sermons
Topic: Stand Alone Passage: 1 Peter 3:15, Matthew 5:13– :14
1 Peter 3:15 says, “But in your hearts revere Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect...”
This verse is said to be the mantra for apologetics. However, since the Scriptures tell us that we are the ambassadors for Christ, it should be our mantra as well. To be an effective ambassador, we must be equipped with truth and love, which enable us to be the salt of the earth and a light to the world (Matthew 5:13-14).
Thus, it is paramount to have a proper balance between truth and love. When they are out of balance, we lose our effectiveness, and divisions or aimlessness will ensue.
My intent for this Sunday’s message is to give us a clearer understanding that God’s love is perfectly balanced, and for us, the proper balance of love and truth enhances unity and equips us for works of service. -- John Schwartz
