Preparation and Peace

This is our second week of Advent and I pray you have had time to reflect and remember the prophecies of old that told of Christ's coming (advent is arrival).

The second candle of Advent is the Bethlehem candle. It is also referred to as the candle of Peace and Preparation. Preparation means to "get ready" or "ready yourselves." The Bethlehem candle represents peace. It symbolizes the preparations being made to receive and cradle the Christ child.

Bethlehem is a story about a humble couple on an unwanted journey, at an inconvenient time, to visit a tiny insignificant town. As we continue in the second Advent week, we wait and prepare for Christ's second arrival. Luke brings us the thought and truth to be ready to welcome Jesus. Be dressed, ready for service, and keep the lamps (of your heart) burning.
