JOHN | The Helper

This week we will cover the entire chapter of John 14.

Jesus continues to pour Himself out to the disciples through His teaching in the short time He has left with them. Jesus' words show that the way to eternal life, though unseen, is secure-as secure as your trust in Jesus.

In John 14:6 Jesus says one of the most basic and important passages in scripture: "I Am the way,and the truth and the life. No one comes to Father except through me." As the way, Jesus is our path to the Father. As the truth, Jesus is the reality of all God's promises. As the Life, Jesus joins His divine life to ours, both now and eternally.

Jesus comforts His troubled disciples by telling them when He departs He will also remain. We know this to be the Holy Spirit, whose work in our lives, is a deep and lasting peace. We all deal with sin, fear, uncertainty, doubt and numerous other forces at war within us. The peace God moves into our hearts and lives to restrain these hostile forces offers comfort instead of conflict. We can have that peace if we are willing to accept it from Him. — Pastor Don
