Evidence in Character

This week we will be continuing our series in Thessalonians with Paul's second letter to this young church. Last week in our intro we looked at the theme of cultivating a perseverance like Jesus. In this first chapter, Paul will again bring hope, encouragement, affirmation, appreciation, building each other up and some... tough truths. We need to remember Paul's main purpose for writing this second letter was to straighten out some misunderstanding about the return of Christ. Paul's straightforward approach, and his causing a critical thinking moment for everyone reading, is the foundation of biblical teaching for all who believe. One commentary wrote our "calling from God, as Christians, is to become more like Christ" (Romans 8:28).
