This week we conclude the apologetics series as we prepare to dive into Paul's letter to Titus the following Sunday.
My intention of having a series on apologetics is to introduce some of the different types of evidence that point to God's existence. When I say evidence, I mean that the "best explanation" is that God exists. For example, the best explanation of the beginning of the universe and life itself is God as the Creator. The best explanation for the intricate design of the universe and life is God as the Great Designer. The best explanation for the religious nature of man is created in God's image and to have fellowship with him. The best explanation for the innate sense of morality that we have is that God, as the Moral Lawgiver, put the requirements of the law in our hearts. There are other areas that we did not cover, such as human consciousness, appreciation of beauty, and our concept of love that are best explained by God's existence.
So, I am concluding this series with the most important evidence that not only shows God’s involvement with us, but it is also the crux of the Christian faith; that is, Christ himself, his life, his death, and his resurrection. As Jesus said, “Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father” (John 14:9). Therefore, we will look at the evidence for the resurrection of Christ as it is the single event that unquestionably confirms His claims of divinity. If Christ is God, then what he taught has the utmost credibility and he was the perfect Sacrificial Lamb for our sins so that we may be reconciled to God.
