This is our second week of Advent, and I pray you have made time to reflect and remember the prophecies of old that foretold Christ's coming (arrival). The second candle of Advent is the Bethlehem candle, also referred to as the candle of Peace and Preparation. Preparation means to "get ready" or "ready yourselves." Isaiah proclaimed the first Advent, and in Luke 3:4-6 the author Luke brings those words to the attention of his readers.
As it is written in the book of the words of Isaiah the prophet: " A voice of one calling in the wilderness,'Prepare the way for the Lord, make straight paths for Him. Every valley shall be filled in, every mountain and hill be made low. The crooked roads shall become straight, the rough ways smooth. And all people will see God's salvation.' — Luke 3:4-6
Today, we all continue in the second Advent; we wait and prepare for Christ's second arrival. Luke brings us the thought and truth to be ready to welcome Jesus. Be dressed, ready for service, and keep the lamps (of your heart) burning. — Pastor Don
