This week begins a new and important portion of church history. Luke has recorded in chapters 10 and 11 of how the conversion of Cornelius opened up to the gospel preachers the exciting possibilities of bringing Gentiles as well as Jews to the truth, belief and salvation offered in Christ Jesus. Along with Phillip going to Samaria, Saul to Damascus, and Peter to Joppa and Caesarea, the disciples now go to Antioch. We will be reintroduced to a man of great character, one who sets the bar of character very high. As we celebrate Father's Day, it seems fitting to look into the character of Barnabas, known as "the son of encouragement and consolation." We will see some practical lessons in this disciple's life that can make an impact in our own lives as well as in that of others. Hope to see you Sunday and pick up a bottle of Dad's root beer! — Blessings, Pastor Don
