Acts | Organized for Flourishing
May 8, 2022 Speaker: Series: The Book of Acts
Topic: The Book of Acts Passage: Acts 6:1–7
NOTE: We had some issues with the recording today, so the sermon will start partway in. We apologize for the incovenience.
We have been reading about and seeing a picture of the early Church that was witnessing miracles, participating in voluntary sharing and generosity, having fellowship with one another, praying together, and growing quickly. It seems we all might have wished to be part of that perfect Church. In reality, the early Church had problems just as we do today.
This week we will see that as the early Church increased in size, so did its needs. Just like the focus on preaching, the administrative tasks were not to be taken lightly. We will see how these Apostles employed their spiritual leadership to find a godly solution to an important challenge presented to the Church.
Some have said that this section of chapter 6 is the setting into motion of the first diaconate board. We will see that the Apostles' priorities were correct, as the ministry of the Word should never be neglected because of what might be seen as administrative burdens. During this process of organization each person has a vital role to play in the healthy life of the Church. Blessings, Pastor Don
