There is an old saying, "Like father, like son."
It means that someone resembles their parents in some way, either in terms of appearance or because of their behavior. We have also heard the term "chip off the old block" or "the apple doesn't fall far from the tree." We believe that Jesus Christ is God in the flesh. In this case, it would be the truth to say, "The Father is the Son."
The mystery of the trinity is wonderful. John writes, “These things are written that you might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and in believing, you might have life in His name.”
There is no credible reason to doubt the authenticity or the reliability of the Gospel of John as a historical document. I have always understood doubt to be one of the most useful tools of our adversary, Satan. The other tool is forgetfulness of God's grace.
Hope to see you this Sunday as we again focus on Jesus. Blessings — Don
