Hello Port Gardner Family,
The situation with COVID-19 is rapidly changing within our community. In prudent response the elders and staff of Port Gardner Community Church have agreed to suspend all church gatherings until Sunday April 5th. We are choosing to do so as we consider the health of our congregation and our community. The recommendations of our nation, state and municipality are such that gathering together in the near future could put people at risk of contracting this virus. We want to be good citizens by doing what we can to assist in slowing the spread of this illness especially to the most vulnerable among us. We hope that things will improve over the next several weeks and that we are able to gather again as has become our custom.
We will post the Sunday sermons on our website, Facebook page and the PGCC App by Sunday morning so you can stay up to date with our teaching on the Passion Week. We encourage you to remain in the word of God. Read the scriptures together as a family or on your own. Take time on Sunday morning to give thanks and worship to God for His goodness and love for us. Use this time to begin patterns of worship that may not be normal to you by the gathering of your family together around the scriptures and prayer.
Let us remember that the church of Christ is not a building but a congregation of believers in the finished work of Jesus Christ as our only hope in life and in death. Be encouraged and make your faith known in these times of trouble and uncertainty. God remains on the throne and He holds our lives in His able hands.
The Coming of the Son of Man
Luke 21:25-28 — And there will be signs in sun and moon and stars, and on the earth distress of nations in perplexity because of the roaring of the sea and the waves, 26 people fainting with fear and with foreboding of what is coming on the world. For the powers of the heavens will be shaken. 27 And then they will see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with power and great glory. 28 Now when these things begin to take place, straighten up and raise your heads, because your redemption is drawing near.
What a joy to know that God has a plan and He will make sure it comes to pass. We rejoice in the knowledge that He is our rock and our mighty fortress.
In every victory and adversity we have the opportunity to look to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. We continue this channel of living trust in the God of our salvation. Now is a time of gathering adversity, but our God is ever faithful even in our unfaithfulness. He will never leave us or forsake us … as a people and as individual believers.
Be strong and courageous, for the Lord your God is with you. It is in His strength that we boast. Blessed be the name of the Lord!
God’s Grace and Peace to you,
The Elders & Staff of Port Gardner Community Church
